sinandcinnamon: (hello kitty spander)
Well. Brand new to writing fan-fiction, and it's been a few years since I've really written much of anything. It's going slowly, but I seem to have thousands of ideas I'd like to play with, so that's kind of making me happy. My first actual piece should be done soon, time permitting, and I'm a bit nervous. Must ask for a beta reader. I think what I really need is a fan-fiction mentor. I'll settle for someone who will be honest if something sucks. I'm terribly worried that my characters are clumsy and unrecognizable, that the sex isn't hot (and since it's a bit of a PWP, that'd be a fairly major problem), that it will really need a lot of reworking to be decent... and that people will simply not tell me. It's only since I've been reading slash that I've come across the concept that some people will lie and say something's good, rather than hurt someone's feelings. And many people just won't say anything at all. I really really don't want to be a sucky writer who thinks their work is good, when with a little honesty and some work, it really *could* be good.

Ah well. I do have faith in my Spander icon. Oh yes. I cannot deny the cuteness of Hello Kitty Spike & Xander. :::licks the wee eyebrow scar and tugs a whisker or two::: :::clears throat and hopes noone was watching::: And I'm fairly sure that many of my plot bunnies are either completely original or at least not commonly done. Because I've read a *lot* of slash, and haven't stumbled across the ideas elsewhere.

If people do like it... well, on the one hand I'm going to be ecstatic, but on the other, it's going to be really frustrating because I won't be able to write things nearly as fast as I'd like to. When I get to the longer series things, I think I'm going to just wait until they're finished before I start posting them, because I can so see myself getting overwhelmed during a WIP and driving everyone crazy by not updating. I'd prefer to have a long time between the end of one story and the beginning of the next, and then be able to post chapters all in a row. Because I love it when others do that.

Okee, yes, I should work on finishing Whispers instead of babbling on, but I really did think an intro post would be good, and help me get some of these thoughts out of my head.
